Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G: Xiaomi’s Battery Beast Takes on Pixel 9a and Galaxy A56

Design and Display: Modern, Large, and Well Built

The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G follows the dominant design language of 2026, featuring flat sides, a flat display, and a clean, minimalist look. The faux-leather back variant provides a soft-touch finish and better grip compared to glossy designs. Measuring 163.3 × 78.3 × 8.2 mm and weighing 207 grams, the phone is undeniably large and relatively heavy. That said, its IP68/IP69K certification is a major advantage, offering resistance to dust, water immersion, and even high-pressure water jets.

The 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate is one of the phone’s strongest assets. Slim bezels, vibrant colors, and solid brightness make it feel more modern and immersive than the Pixel 9a. The in-display optical fingerprint scanner is fast and reliable.

Camera: Powerful Main Sensor, Incomplete Setup

Xiaomi equips the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G with a 200MP main camera featuring OIS and an f/1.7 aperture, which clearly serves as the highlight of the camera system. Photos show strong detail, good sharpness, and respectable dynamic range in most conditions.

However, the overall camera setup feels incomplete. The 8MP ultra-wide camera is noticeably weaker, delivering lower detail and less consistent results. The absence of a telephoto camera at this price point is also disappointing. By default, the phone captures 12MP pixel-binned photos, while an Ultra HD mode allows full 200MP shots at the expense of much larger file sizes. Video recording is limited to 4K at 30fps, with no 4K60 option available.

Performance: Smooth, but Not Class-Leading

Powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 (4nm) chipset, the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G delivers a smooth, stutter-free experience in daily use, marking a clear improvement over cheaper Redmi Note models. That said, it still falls well behind the Pixel 9a and its Tensor G4 chip in benchmark performance. CPU results show a gap of nearly 40%, while GPU performance is even further behind. For graphically demanding games such as Genshin Impact, the Pixel remains the better option.

Another downside is Xiaomi’s use of UFS 2.2 storage, which is slower than what several competitors offer. More surprisingly, this is the only Redmi Note 15 series model that does not support microSD expansion.

Software: Solid, but Behind Google

The phone ships with HyperOS 2.0 based on Android 15, with confirmed upgrades to HyperOS 3.0 and Android 16. Xiaomi promises four years of OS updates, which is respectable but still trails behind Google’s seven-year update commitment for the Pixel 9a.

Battery and Charging: The Real Standout

This is where the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G truly shines. Its massive 6,500mAh battery easily delivers up to two days of real-world use, outperforming most competitors in its segment.

Charging performance is equally impressive, with support for 100W wired charging, allowing a full charge in around 40 minutes. However, these speeds require Xiaomi’s proprietary charger, which is not included in the box. Wireless charging is not supported.

Audio and Haptics

Speaker performance exceeds expectations for a mid-range device, offering loud output with some presence in the lower frequencies. The larger chassis clearly helps in this regard. Haptics are another strong point, providing tight, controlled vibrations that feel more refined than what is typically found in this price category.

Should You Buy the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G?

The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ 5G sets a new standard for battery life and charging speed in the mid-range segment. It is smooth, well-built, and packed with practical features. That said, camera versatility and long-term software support still lag behind options like the Pixel 9a and some Samsung alternatives.
Final verdict: If battery endurance and ultra-fast charging are your top priorities, this phone is a strong choice—but waiting for price drops could make it an even better deal.
