Elon Musk Dismisses Interest in Acquiring TikTok’s US Operations

Elon Musk: “No Interest in Buying TikTok US”

Elon Musk has shut down rumors that he is considering acquiring TikTok’s US operations, stating that he has no intention of making a bid for the short-video platform. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO addressed the topic at a conference in Germany, emphasizing that he does not use TikTok and prefers to build companies from the ground up rather than purchasing existing ones.

Speculation Around Musk’s Involvement

Earlier this year, reports surfaced suggesting that Chinese officials might approve Musk as a buyer if the US government moved forward with a ban on TikTok over national security concerns. However, Musk dismissed these claims, making it clear that he has no interest in owning or operating the app.

Former US President Donald Trump recently hinted that Musk or Oracle’s Larry Ellison could potentially acquire TikTok in collaboration with the US government if necessary. However, with Musk’s outright rejection, attention may shift to other potential buyers should a forced sale become a reality.

ByteDance’s Position and Potential Legal Pressure

ByteDance, TikTok’s Chinese parent company, has consistently refused to sell its US operations. However, the company is facing mounting pressure amid ongoing legal challenges and potential regulatory actions. While no immediate sale is expected, analysts suggest that escalating legal concerns could push ByteDance to reconsider its stance—though any such deal would require approval from Chinese authorities as well.

Conclusion

🔹 Elon Musk has no interest in buying TikTok’s US operations, despite prior speculation.
🔹 He prefers building new businesses rather than acquiring existing ones.
🔹 Former President Trump had floated the idea of Musk or Ellison as potential buyers.
🔹 ByteDance remains firm on not selling TikTok, but legal challenges may change its position.

With Musk out of the equation, the future of TikTok in the US remains uncertain, leaving room for other potential buyers or alternative regulatory solutions.
