Samsung is reportedly planning major improvements to the camera system in its next flagship foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 8. As foldable phones become more mainstream, expectations for photography performance have risen, and Samsung appears ready to answer with a more capable imaging setup that closes the gap with its traditional Galaxy S series. These enhancements are aimed at making the Z Fold 8 a versatile device for both everyday snapshots and more ambitious photo and video tasks.

At the heart of the updates is a stronger main camera sensor that promises better detail and low-light performance. Early information suggests Samsung is increasing both the resolution and the size of the sensor itself, which helps capture more light and improve overall image quality. These changes should result in clearer photos with richer colors, particularly in dimmer environments where foldable cameras have often lagged behind other flagship phones.

In addition to the primary shooter, Samsung is expected to beef up the telephoto and ultrawide lenses, giving users more flexibility when zooming or capturing expansive scenes. Telephoto improvements may include higher optical magnification and better stabilization, which would make distant subjects look sharper without blur. The ultrawide camera is also tipped to capture wider perspectives while reducing distortion at the edges — a common challenge on foldable devices.

Video recording is another area Samsung is likely prioritizing. Enhanced sensor hardware combined with smarter software algorithms could lead to smoother footage and more reliable autofocus, helping content creators get steady results even when filming on the move. Samsung may also introduce new video modes that take advantage of the Fold’s large internal display, making it easier to preview and shoot content without juggling multiple controls.

These camera upgrades reflect Samsung’s broader strategy of pushing foldables beyond niche novelty devices into true all-around performers. By addressing long-standing concerns about image quality, the company aims to attract users who want a device that does everything well — from productivity and multitasking to photography and media creation.

While official details and launch dates have not yet been confirmed, the buzz around the Galaxy Z Fold 8 suggests Samsung is focused on making it one of the best foldable camera phones on the market. If these improvements hold true, the next Fold could narrow the gap with other flagship rivals and satisfy users who have been waiting for a foldable that excels both as a multitasking tool and a capable camera platform.
