Amazon’s latest update to Alexa+ on Fire TV is making watching movies on Prime Video a lot easier — especially if you only remember a scene, not the title. Instead of manually fast-forwarding or scrolling through timestamps, you can now describe the moment you want to see: mention a character, action, quote or location — and Alexa+ will instantly jump to that exact moment.
Under the hood, the system matches what you say with scene metadata, subtitles, and visual analysis of thousands of indexed movies. So whether you remember “that fight scene in the big hall” or “the moment she says ‘I love you’ in that rom-com,” Alexa+ tries to find it — even if you don’t recall the movie’s name. Once it finds a match, playback starts right there, letting you skip the search.
The feature currently works for a large catalog of movies available via Prime membership, rental or purchase. It aims to cut through the frustration of trying to find beloved scenes manually — perfect when you want to re-watch a favourite moment or show someone a specific part without scrubbing through the timeline.
That said, this convenience doesn’t come free from limitations. Not all movies may be supported yet — only those properly indexed with scene data. And right now, it doesn’t always cover TV shows. So if the film hasn’t been processed, or if the scene info is missing, Alexa+ may fail to find what you’re looking for.
Still, for many viewers, this means fewer wasted minutes fast-forwarding and more time enjoying — re-watching favourite moments, sharing memorable scenes with friends, or revisiting parts they love most. Alexa+ is turning movie-search from a chore into a simple voice command.
