For years, iPhone users juggling personal and professional lives—or managing dual-SIM setups—have faced the inconvenience of logging in and out of WhatsApp or relying on separate apps. That’s about to change. In the latest iOS beta build (version 25.34.10.72 via TestFlight), WhatsApp has introduced a new “Account List” section in Settings, enabling testers to add and manage a second account directly inside the app. Each account maintains its own chat history, backup configuration, and notification preferences, ensuring complete separation between personal and work communications.
The feature supports linking an existing WhatsApp number, registering a new one, or connecting a companion account via QR code scanning. Currently, the beta allows up to two accounts per device, but WhatsApp has not yet confirmed whether more accounts will be supported in future updates. This rollout brings iOS in line with Android, which has offered multi-account functionality for some time, and eliminates the need for clunky workarounds like WhatsApp Business or third-party solutions.
For professionals, freelancers, and side-hustlers, this update is particularly impactful. It streamlines workflows by consolidating communication into a single app, while still preserving privacy and separation between identities. Notifications, backups, and preferences remain isolated, reducing the risk of mixing personal and business data. It also means fewer devices to carry—one iPhone can now handle multiple WhatsApp identities without compromise.
While the feature is limited to select beta testers for now, WhatsApp is expected to expand availability in upcoming stable releases. Analysts note that this move reflects WhatsApp’s evolution from a single-number messenger into a multi-profile communications hub, aligning with broader trends in digital productivity and enterprise messaging.
