Motorola has revealed the latest entries in its budget-friendly lineup: the Moto G (2026) and Moto G Play (2026). Both devices aim to deliver strong value for users who want large screens, solid cameras, and modern features without breaking the bank.

Starting with display and design, both phones sport a 6.7-inch screen with a high 120 Hz refresh rate and up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness—specs usually reserved for higher-end models. Internally, they’re powered by the Dimensity 6300 chipset, support 5G connectivity, and include elements often missing at this price point: a microSD card slot and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

On the camera front, the Moto G steps up with a 50 MP rear sensor plus a 32 MP front-facing camera, whereas the Moto G Play presents a 32 MP rear sensor and an 8 MP selfie shooter. Battery life is managed by a 5,200 mAh cell on both models; the Moto G supports faster 30 W wired charging, while the G Play offers 18 W charging.

Software-wise, they run Android 16 out of the box and include Motorola’s “Hello UX” software enhancements—things like gesture controls, family-space features and quick access to Google’s Gemini AI functions. Both phones also carry an IP52 splash-resistance rating and are available in distinctive colourways designed in collaboration with Pantone.

In terms of pricing, for the U.S. market the Moto G (2026) is expected at $199.99 when it launches December 11, while the Moto G Play (2026) will cost around $169.99, shipping from November 13. For budget-conscious buyers, these two models deliver modern specs at a very accessible price—though buyers should understand that some premium features (top-tier materials, ultra-fast charging, flagship-grade cameras) are still absent.

Overall, if you’re shopping on a tight budget and want a large, smooth display plus good value in a smartphone, the new Moto G phones are among the strongest in their class. They remind us that budget doesn’t always mean compromise—just smart trade-offs.
