They Don’t Make Supercars Like This Anymore: Capricorn 01 Zagato Unveiled

German engineering meets Italian design in the stunning new Capricorn 01 Zagato, a limited-production supercar that revives the pure analog spirit of driving. Capricorn Group, a renowned supplier of high-performance components to Formula 1, WEC, and LMP1 teams, has taken a bold step by creating its own car — and it’s nothing like the hyper-digital machines of today.

The Capricorn 01 Zagato embodies a raw, emotional driving experience. It ditches touchscreens and complex infotainment systems in favor of simplicity and driver engagement. Under its sleek carbon-fiber body — handcrafted by legendary coachbuilder Zagato — lies a supercharged 5.2-liter Ford V8 engine mated to a five-speed dogleg manual transmission. This powerhouse produces a staggering 888 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque, propelling the car from 0 to 62 mph in under three seconds, with a top speed of 224 mph. “The car is designed for the joy of driving, not for setting records,” explains Capricorn Group founder and CEO Robertino Wild, emphasizing the brand’s focus on pure mechanical connection.

Every part of the 01 Zagato reflects bespoke craftsmanship and engineering excellence. It features custom-built internals such as a dry-sump lubrication system, crankshaft, pistons, exhaust, and ECU tuning — all developed in-house. Braking duties are handled by Brembo carbon-ceramic discs with six-piston calipers, hidden behind Capricorn-designed 21-inch alloy or carbon-fiber wheels. Suspension performance comes from a double-wishbone pushrod setup with Bilstein springs and dampers, offering precision handling worthy of a true track-focused supercar.

The interior is a deliberate throwback to the analog era. Behind the leather-wrapped steering wheel sit three classic analog gauges, and the wheel itself includes just two buttons — start/stop and drive mode selection. The fixed seats are upholstered in Connolly leather with Alcantara inserts, while the pedal box, steering wheel, and gear shifter are fully adjustable. Even the switchgear is milled from solid titanium and aluminum, highlighting Capricorn’s obsession with quality materials and lightweight construction.

Despite its minimalistic aesthetic, the 01 Zagato is far from aerodynamically simple. The car’s design achieves balanced downforce through clever “internal airflow management” and a sculpted underbody rather than massive wings or spoilers. It incorporates subtle front and rear diffusers and a discreet rear airfoil, achieving both visual purity and high-speed stability.

Underneath the elegant bodywork lies a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis with carbon crash structures and subframes, ensuring rigidity and safety at minimal weight. Production of the Capricorn 01 Zagato will begin in early 2026, with only 19 examples to be hand-built. Unfortunately for American enthusiasts, it won’t be available in the United States. Each car will cost a breathtaking €2.95 million (around $3.4 million), cementing its status as one of the most exclusive and emotionally engaging supercars of the modern era.
