The Lucid Air Touring continues to prove that Lucid Motors is building one of the most distinctive EVs on the road today. Deliveries first began in 2021, yet the car feels fresh thanks to constant hardware and software updates.
During testing, the Air Touring showcased its 92.0-kWh battery pack, producing 620 horsepower and delivering up to 406 miles of EPA-estimated range. Performance remains impressive, with a 0–60 mph sprint in just 3.4 seconds, while still offering superb ride comfort. Reviewers noted that the handling has a touch of “old-school BMW,” striking a balance between firm dynamics and everyday refinement.
Efficiency remains a hallmark of Lucid’s engineering. Across 600 miles of mixed driving, the Air averaged 4.0 miles per kWh, translating to a real-world range of 362 miles. Space efficiency is another highlight: despite being similar in size to a BMW 5 Series, the Air offers a palatial interior, with generous trunk space both front and rear.
The infotainment system, featuring a curved upper display and a secondary lower touchscreen, is sleek but criticized for being unintuitive, with certain settings buried in menus. Build quality also shows inconsistencies, with squeaks, rattles, and uneven panel gaps noted in the test car.
The optional DreamDrive Pro hands-free driver-assist system ($6,750) was less convincing. While generally functional, it occasionally ping-ponged between lane markers.
Despite these flaws, the Lucid Air Touring stands out as one of the most efficient and engaging electric luxury sedans available. Positioned against rivals like the Tesla Model S, BMW i5, Mercedes-Benz EQE, and Porsche Taycan, it appeals most strongly to enthusiasts who value innovative engineering—even if its quirks and premium pricing limit broader appeal.
