OpenAI has launched a new, budget-friendly subscription plan for ChatGPT in India, its first country-specific offering. The plan, named “ChatGPT Go,” is priced at Rs 399 per month, which is a significant reduction from the standard ChatGPT Plus plan. This move highlights India’s importance as the second-largest market for ChatGPT users, a position the company is actively trying to strengthen.
The ChatGPT Go plan is built on OpenAI’s latest GPT-5 model and provides several key features to attract users who find the free version too limiting. Subscribers gain access to 10 times the message capacity, daily image generation, and extended file uploads for data analysis. The plan also includes enhanced support for Indic languages and a longer memory for more personalized responses, making it more practical for everyday use and complex projects.
A notable feature of this launch is the integration with the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), India’s widely used digital payment system. This addition makes it much more convenient for millions of Indian users to subscribe to the service. OpenAI’s decision to offer a lower-cost, tailored plan is a strategic effort to deepen its presence in the price-sensitive Indian market and accelerate the adoption of its AI tools among a broader audience, from students to professionals.
