Apple is set to unveil its thinnest iPhone to date with the anticipated iPhone 17 Air, rumored to be just 5.5mm at its thinnest point, surpassing the iPhone 6’s 6.9mm thickness. This ultra-slim design positions the iPhone 17 Air as a direct competitor to Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge.

Design and Display

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature a 6.6-inch OLED ProMotion display with a 120Hz refresh rate, offering vibrant visuals and smooth scrolling. The device may come in a new light blue shade that appears almost white indoors. However, to achieve this sleek profile, certain features like the Always-On display and variable refresh rate might be sacrificed.

Performance and Battery

Under the hood, the iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be powered by Apple’s A19 chip, possibly paired with up to 12GB of RAM. This combination promises enhanced performance and efficiency. The device is also expected to support Wi-Fi 7 and feature Apple’s first in-house 5G modem, the C1 chip. Despite these advancements, the ultra-thin design may result in a smaller 2,800mAh battery, potentially impacting battery life.

Camera Capabilities

The iPhone 17 Air is anticipated to sport a 48MP rear camera and a 24MP front-facing camera, marking a significant upgrade from its predecessors. These enhancements aim to deliver improved photography and videography experiences.

Connectivity and Features

In line with Apple’s push towards a portless future, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to rely entirely on eSIM technology, eliminating the physical SIM card slot. Additionally, the device may introduce haptic-driven button technology, providing a more seamless user interface.

Launch and Pricing

The iPhone 17 Air is slated for release in September 2025, with pre-orders beginning shortly after the announcement. Pricing is expected to be competitive, positioning the device as a premium offering in Apple’s lineup.
