Latent Labs, a biotech startup founded by Dr. Simon Kohl, who previously worked on AlphaFold2 at DeepMind, has introduced a new web-based AI tool called LatentX. This platform lets scientists design new proteins easily using just their web browsers and simple language, without needing complex lab experiments.
In recent tests, many of the proteins designed by LatentX worked successfully in real-life experiments, showing the tool’s strong potential. Latent Labs has raised $50 million from well-known investors, including Google’s Chief Scientist Jeff Dean and the CEO of Eleven Labs.
The company’s goal is to help biotech and pharmaceutical companies speed up the discovery and development of new medicines. While the tool is free to use for now, advanced features may become paid in the future.
