Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Fold 7 on July 9, 2025, at their Galaxy Unpacked event. It’s their thinnest and lightest foldable phone so far—8.9 mm thick and 215 grams. It has a new Armor Aluminum frame and an improved hinge called Armor FlexHinge that reduces screen creasing. The phone features a large 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display inside with a 2184 x 1968 resolution and up to 120 Hz refresh rate. The outside has a 6.5-inch screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio and variable refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, so you can use it without unfolding. The screen brightness goes up to 2600 nits for easy viewing in bright sunlight.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip, which is faster and more efficient than the previous generation. You can choose between 12 or 16 GB of RAM, depending on the storage option you pick. 256 GB, 512 GB,1 TB. The phone is also water and dust resistant with an IP48 rating, and it uses tough Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the front display and Victus 2 glass on the back. The battery is around 4400 mAh and supports both fast charging and wireless charging.
The phone features a powerful 200 MP main camera with ultra-wide and telephoto lenses for versatile photo and video options. Advanced AI automatically adjusts settings like exposure, focus, and color to capture sharp, vibrant photos even in low light, while AI-powered noise reduction further improves image quality. Beyond photography, AI powers Gemini Multi-Tasking, allowing you to smoothly run and switch between multiple apps on the large foldable screen. It also learns your usage habits to optimize speed, battery life, and suggest apps, making the phone more intuitive and efficient throughout the day.
Samsung started pre-orders right after the announcement, with the official release planned for July 25, 2025.
