Google is developing a new feature called the AI-powered Notification Organizer for Android 16, intended to simplify notification management for users. This feature automatically categorizes incoming notifications into groups like ads, news, social, and suggestions through artificial intelligence. The goal is to make it easier for users to browse notifications and reduce the clutter caused by less important or distracting alerts.
Users will be able to customize this feature by choosing which apps’ notifications get categorized and which don’t, giving them control over how their notifications are organized. The AI learns over time to recognize which notifications are more important and prioritizes those higher so that users can quickly access critical information.
Currently, this feature appears to be exclusive to Google Pixel devices and was spotted in the Android 16 beta build QPR1 running on the Pixel 8 Pro. It hasn’t been released to the public yet.
Overall, this feature is especially useful for users who receive a high volume of notifications. It declutters the notification shade by grouping alerts intelligently and ensures that important notifications are easier to spot and interact with. This feature is designed to deliver a more streamlined and user-friendly notification system on Android.
