One of the main grievances expressed by Airbnb users over the years has been the inability to quickly determine the total cost of their stay, which includes various fees such as cleaning charges. To address this issue, Airbnb is now presenting the complete price for each property, encompassing all fees, automatically.
From now on, users worldwide will see the pre-tax prices by default when browsing for properties. During online searches, Airbnb will display a small note stating, “Prices include all fees.” This feature began testing in 2019 in several European countries, as well as in Australia, Canada, and Korea. In 2022, an optional toggle was introduced in the U.S. and 200 other countries to show pre-tax prices in search results.
In 2023, this toggle was extended to include price filtering, maps, and listing pages. Airbnb reported that 17 million users have utilized this feature since its launch. However, with the latest update, the toggle will be discontinued.
Additionally, Airbnb has offered a feature since 2023 that allows hosts to view similar properties and compare pricing. Hosts will also have access to information regarding what their guests are paying before taxes, enabling them to adjust their prices accordingly.
