Cadillac has unveiled its new IQ portfolio of all-electric vehicles, which includes the compact Optiq SUV and the full-size Escalade IQ, marking a significant shift towards more technologically advanced and luxurious offerings. This transition is crucial as Cadillac’s recent internal combustion engine models have struggled to match the luxury and tech of competitors.

The Optiq SUV and Escalade IQ are designed to cater to different consumer preferences, with the Optiq appealing to a younger audience and the Escalade targeting a more traditional luxury market. During a recent test drive in Northern California, the performance of both vehicles was impressive. The Optiq features a robust 300 horsepower and offers a dynamic driving experience with its innovative suspension system. It also provides customizable regenerative braking options for an engaging driving experience.

In contrast, the Escalade IQ emphasizes comfort and luxury, boasting 700 horsepower in its Velocity Max mode. Its advanced features include a rear-wheel steering system for enhanced maneuverability and a range of luxury amenities, such as automatic door closures and heated, massage-capable seats. Both vehicles come equipped with Cadillac’s SuperCruise for hands-free driving and a suite of safety features.

In terms of range, the Optiq has an 85 kWh battery providing up to 302 miles, while the Escalade IQ features a larger 205 kWh battery with an impressive range of 460 miles. Both vehicles support fast charging and come with standard home charging options.

The interiors reflect their target demographics: the Optiq is modern and youthful, featuring a 33-inch display and a high-quality audio system, while the Escalade IQ boasts a luxurious 55-inch dashboard screen and sophisticated tech integration.

Pricing starts at $55,615 for the Optiq and approaches $130,000 for the Escalade IQ, with higher trims offering additional luxury features. Overall, both vehicles present cutting-edge technology and safety features, although the absence of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is a noted drawback. Despite this, Cadillac has successfully introduced two compelling electric vehicles that enhance its brand image in the luxury segment
