Apple is gearing up to introduce significant updates to the operating systems for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, which could mark the most substantial design overhaul in years, according to a Bloomberg report citing anonymous sources.
The upcoming changes, expected to be rolled out with iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16, will refresh a variety of elements including icons, menus, apps, windows, and system buttons, while also streamlining navigation and controls. The new design is said to take inspiration from VisionOS, the operating system powering Apple’s VisionPro VR headset, featuring circular icons and translucent panels for easier navigation.
This redesign is reportedly a major initiative for Apple’s software and user interface teams, led by Alan Dye, Apple’s VP of Human Interface Design. The company plans to unveil iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16 during its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) scheduled for June, according to the report.
