Apple has quietly introduced a special-edition version of the AirPods Pro 3 to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year, which falls on February 17, 2026. This limited-edition model, themed around the Year of the Horse, became available for purchase on January 5, but only in select markets, making it a regional exclusive rather than a global release.
The most noticeable difference between the standard AirPods Pro 3 and the Year of the Horse edition is the design of the charging case. Apple has added a subtle silver horse emoji engraved on the front of the case, accompanied by small star-like decorative elements. While understated, the design gives the earbuds a festive and collectible feel that clearly sets them apart from the regular version.
Availability is limited to a handful of regions, including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Singapore. As with previous Lunar New Year releases, Apple notes that the special-edition AirPods Pro 3 will only be sold while supplies last, reinforcing their limited nature and appeal among collectors and fans of exclusive Apple products.
This isn’t Apple’s first time celebrating Lunar New Year with special AirPods designs. Over the past several years, the company has released similar limited editions for the Year of the Snake, Dragon, Rabbit, Tiger, and Ox, continuing a tradition that resonates strongly in Asian markets.

From a technical standpoint, the Year of the Horse AirPods Pro 3 are identical to the standard model. Pricing remains unchanged, and all features carry over with no compromises. The AirPods Pro 3 were originally launched in 2025 alongside the iPhone 17, maintaining the familiar $249 price point.
The third-generation AirPods Pro brought several meaningful upgrades, including improved Active Noise Cancellation that is up to twice as effective as before, enhanced sound quality through a new acoustic system, and up to eight hours of listening time with ANC enabled. Apple also improved comfort and fit by introducing five different ear tip sizes, following extensive research on ear shapes.
Additional highlights include IP57-rated dust, sweat, and water resistance, a built-in heart rate sensor that integrates with the iPhone’s Fitness app, Live Translation support, and a smarter transparency mode designed to deliver more natural environmental sound. These features combine to make the AirPods Pro 3 a significant step forward compared to previous generations.
Customers who purchase the Lunar New Year edition can expect deliveries to begin around January 8, depending on their location and order date. While the product itself offers no functional advantages over the standard version, its exclusive design makes it especially appealing to fans who value unique Apple hardware.
