New Foldable iPhone Leaks Suggest Unusual Shape and Size

Apple’s first foldable iPhone is taking shape in rumor reports, and its design may challenge what people expect from a pocket‑friendly phone. According to leaked internal specifications circulating among accessory makers and industry watchers, the foldable model appears to be unusually wide when folded, which could make it feel less comfortable in tight pockets compared with traditional iPhones. Early dimensions suggest a short but broad form factor, hinting that Apple is prioritizing screen real estate over slender portability.

When closed, the foldable device is projected to be wider than many current smartphones, which may create a unique feel in hand but also raise questions about everyday usability in jeans or small bags. This choice could be tied to the device’s larger internal display, which reportedly opens up to an almost tablet‑like screen. Apple seems to be balancing between providing a big viewing experience once unfolded and keeping the folded body manageable enough for basic one‑handed tasks.

The foldable model’s overall size and proportions are said to differ significantly from the vertical fold‑style seen in some other phones. Instead, the wider footprint when shut may offer a more expansive outer display that can show more content at a glance. Once open, the screen dimensions are expected to resemble a small tablet, allowing for more immersive apps, multitasking, and media viewing that take advantage of the broader canvas.

Design details also point toward a thin profile when the phone is unfolded, though the presence of a camera bump could affect how flat the device lies on a surface. A dual‑camera system on the back and a selfie camera integrated into the interior display are among the features hinted at in the leaked design files. These elements reflect Apple’s effort to blend conventional smartphone functions with the flexibility of foldable hardware.

While this early information gives a glimpse into Apple’s approach, the company has not officially confirmed any specifications or a release timeline. Expectations remain that the first foldable iPhone could debut in the second half of 2026, but as with any pre‑release rumors, details may shift as development continues. For now, the emphasis on a broad, pocket‑challenging design suggests Apple is taking a distinct route among foldable devices, one that may appeal to users who value larger displays over compact folded form.
