Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup may include a major upgrade in storage technology that could make it significantly faster than the Galaxy S25. Qualcomm has officially announced its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, boasting 20 percent more performance and 35 percent greater efficiency compared to its predecessor. The chipset also supports Universal Flash Storage 4.1, which delivers higher data transfer speeds and improved responsiveness in daily tasks.

While not yet confirmed, it is highly likely that Samsung will adopt UFS 4.1 for the Galaxy S26 series, continuing its tradition of being among the first to implement new storage standards, as seen with the Galaxy S23’s early adoption of UFS 4.0. Paired with Micron’s UFS 4.1 solution, the new devices will load apps faster, enhance AI-driven tasks like photo editing and translation, and deliver smoother overall performance.

The new memory packages are also smaller, creating more internal space for other components. Samsung is expected to combine this with upgraded LPDDR5X RAM for improved efficiency and responsiveness. Although the Galaxy S26 Ultra may not feature a larger battery, the efficiency gains, performance boost, and faster charging should balance out the unchanged capacity. With these upgrades, the Galaxy S26 family could become the first mainstream flagship series to support UFS 4.1, giving it a clear edge over rivals like Google’s Pixel 10.
