Samsung is rumored to be preparing a groundbreaking privacy feature for its upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra, which could make traditional screen protectors obsolete. According to recent reports from sources including Android Authority and Android Police that have analyzed code from the under-development One UI 8.5 software, the flagship device is set to include a “Private Display” or “Privacy Display” feature. This built-in functionality will use AI to adjust pixel brightness and viewing angles, effectively limiting screen visibility from the side and protecting user privacy in public spaces like crowded cafes or public transit. The technology behind this is believed to be Samsung Display’s proprietary “Flex Magic Pixel,” which was first showcased at MWC 2024. This hardware-dependent feature will likely be exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, distinguishing it from other models in the lineup. The software is also expected to offer users flexible control, with options for “Maximum Privacy” that further dims the screen, and “Manual Settings” that allow for app-specific activation, making it ideal for sensitive applications like banking or messaging. This move aligns with Samsung’s strategy to use its Ultra series as a platform for the company’s most advanced and experimental display technologies, aiming to provide a compelling new reason for privacy-conscious consumers to choose the brand over competitors.
