Samsung’s next-generation earbuds, the Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, have just surfaced in a new software leak, giving fans the first real indication that the devices are in development. The discovery was made within the code of the upcoming One UI 8.5 release, where references to both models were found. According to Android Authority, the leaked details also point to potential model numbers: SM-R540 for the Galaxy Buds 4 and SM-R640 for the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro. These follow the same numbering logic as the Buds 3 (SM-R530) and Buds 3 Pro (SM-R630), further strengthening their authenticity.
Samsung last refreshed its earbuds lineup more than a year ago with the Galaxy Buds 3 series, and earlier reports suggested that the Buds 4 could launch alongside the Galaxy S26 lineup. While Samsung has yet to confirm anything officially, the timing aligns with expectations, especially as Apple has just released the AirPods Pro 3. Apple’s latest earbuds introduced new features such as heart rate monitoring, improved active noise cancellation, and real-time translation, raising the competitive bar.
Given this, Samsung is expected to enhance its own earbuds with improved noise cancellation, longer battery life, and expanded Galaxy AI features, including more advanced translation capabilities. While speculation is high, official confirmation will likely come in early 2026, possibly during the Galaxy S26 launch event in January. If Samsung manages to deliver significant upgrades to audio quality and usability, the Galaxy Buds 4 series could become a strong rival to Apple’s latest AirPods Pro.
