During a recent Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo officially announced Mario Tennis Fever, the latest installment in the popular sports series. The game is scheduled to be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 on February 12, 2026.
The new game promises to be the most feature-packed entry in the series to date. It will include 38 playable characters, the most in any Mario Tennis game. Players can also utilize new “Fever Rackets,” with 30 different rackets each having unique abilities that can be activated by filling a special “Fever Gauge.” These abilities include freezing the court, shrinking opponents, or even duplicating the player character.
In addition to standard modes like Tournament and Online Ranked Matches, Mario Tennis Fever will feature a new Adventure Mode with a storyline. In this mode, Mario and his friends are turned into babies and must learn to play tennis again to defeat monsters and return to normal. The game will also support Joy-Con motion controls with its “Swing Mode.”
