After years of anticipation, Nintendo and Retro Studios have confirmed that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will launch on December 4, 2025 for both the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2. The announcement came during a recent Nintendo Direct, alongside a fresh trailer showcasing exciting gameplay changes and new features.
Samus Aran returns to explore the alien planet Viewros — this time with enhanced abilities and mobility tools. One standout addition is a motorcycle named Vi-0-La, which Samus can use to traverse large, open landscapes more quickly, offering a different pace from the series’ traditional exploration. Psychic powers also figure prominently, allowing for remote manipulation of objects, new puzzle mechanics, and combat dynamics.
In the lead-up to the game’s release, Nintendo is also rolling out collectible amiibo figures tied to the launch. Two of them — “Samus” and “Samus & Vi-0-La” — will be available on November 6, while a “Sylux” figure drops at launch in December. Additionally, a visual retrospective art book covering the first three Metroid Prime titles is set for release in late October.
The Switch 2 version of Beyond introduces upgraded visuals and performance options. Players can expect enhanced graphics modes — including 4K resolution and higher frame rates when docked — as well as improved controls and fidelity. The original Switch version remains fully supported, ensuring fans of both hardware generations can experience the game.
