Meta has partnered with renewable energy company Silicon Ranch and Central Electric Power Cooperative to build a new 100-megawatt (MW) solar farm in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. The project, which represents a $100 million investment, is intended to provide renewable energy for Meta’s first data center in the state, which is currently under construction.
This collaboration is the 18th between Meta and Silicon Ranch, bringing their total renewable energy capacity to over 1,500 MW. The project is also notable for its commitment to using domestically manufactured equipment. Both the solar farm and the data center are expected to be operational in 2027. This initiative aligns with Meta’s goal of powering all its operations with 100% renewable energy.
