Google’s recent Made by Google 2025 event unveiled two key updates for its audio lineup: the launch of the Pixel Buds 2a and a major software update for the existing Pixel Buds Pro 2.
The new Pixel Buds 2a are the company’s latest budget-friendly wireless earbuds. They are the first A-series buds to feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and are powered by the new Tensor A1 chip. They are smaller and lighter than their predecessors and include Gemini AI integration, allowing for hands-free tasks and real-time conversation with the assistant. The Pixel Buds 2a are priced at $129 and have a replaceable case battery.
For the flagship Pixel Buds Pro 2, a new software update is rolling out with several key features. The updates include enhanced Gemini integration for clearer conversations in noisy environments, Adaptive Audio that intelligently adjusts sound based on surroundings, and a new Loud Noise Protection feature to safeguard hearing from sudden loud sounds. Users will also be able to answer calls and reply to texts with simple head movements, like a nod or a shake.
