Google is introducing a new AI-powered personal health coach, built with its Gemini model, for Fitbit. The feature will be part of the Fitbit Premium subscription and is designed to move beyond simple data tracking to provide personalized, real-time guidance.
The new AI coach will act as a fitness trainer, sleep coach, and wellness advisor. It will use real-time data from a user’s Fitbit or Pixel Watch to create and adapt workout plans, offer proactive health insights, and provide personalized answers to health and fitness questions. For example, if a user has a poor night’s sleep, the coach might suggest a less intense workout to aid recovery.
The Fitbit app itself has been redesigned to support this new coaching experience, with improved data visualization, easier navigation, and a new dark mode. A preview of the AI coach will be rolled out to Fitbit Premium users in the U.S. starting in October 2025.
