Google is rolling out a powerful new feature, Gemini Live, to both Android and iOS, allowing users to interact with the Gemini AI in real-time conversations that can handle tasks across multiple apps. With Gemini Live, users can add calendar events, manage shopping lists, and update notes—simply by talking.
The feature works within the Gemini app and is activated by tapping the far-right button in the “Ask Gemini” box, which displays a waveform with the Gemini sparkle icon. Once enabled, you can have natural back-and-forth chats with Gemini, much like conversing with a friend, while it carries out your requests instantly.
For example, users can say, “Please add to Google Calendar an appointment I have on August 10th with Captain Crunch at 2 pm,” and Gemini will handle the scheduling without opening the Calendar app. Similarly, Gemini Live can add or edit items in Google Keep, such as instantly inserting “cat food” into an existing shopping list. It also integrates with Google Tasks—though some users have reported mixed results—automatically creating reminders without manual typing.
This voice-driven productivity tool is available on both platforms, provided the relevant apps like Google Calendar, Keep, and Tasks are installed. For iPhone users, all these apps can be downloaded directly from the App Store, while Android users can get them via Google Play.
By eliminating the need to switch between apps or type instructions, Gemini Live offers a faster, more seamless way to get things done, making it an essential time-saving assistant for mobile users.
