TikTok is undergoing a significant organizational restructuring by merging its Core Product and Trust & Safety teams into a unified entity. This strategic move aims to enhance the company’s ability to leverage its technical capabilities across both business and safety objectives, facilitating the development of next-generation safety technology. As part of this reorganization, Adam Presser, previously the head of Operations and Trust & Safety, has been appointed as the General Manager of TikTok U.S. Data Security (USDS), a separate entity tasked with safeguarding U.S. national security interests. Andy Bonillo, the current General Manager of TikTok USDS, will transition to a new role as Senior Advisor, reporting to Presser. Sandeep Grover will assume the position of head of Global Trust & Safety, while Jenny Zi will lead TikTok Live. Additionally, a new Platform Responsibility team has been established, led by Adam Wang, who has successfully launched and expanded TikTok Live globally over the past four years. This restructuring comes amid ongoing discussions regarding TikTok’s future in the U.S., with the current deadline for a potential shutdown set for September 17.
