Google is rolling out a refreshed compact overlay for Gemini Live, introducing a sleeker, darker interface aimed at enhancing user experience. This update, currently in beta, streamlines the assistant’s floating interface, making it less intrusive while retaining full functionality.
Visual Enhancements
The new design features a smaller, rounded text input field with a prominent blue/purple glow, aligning with Gemini’s color scheme. Icons have been downsized, and the background adopts a darker tone, catering to users who prefer dark mode. Additionally, the floating widget has been updated to a circular shape with a more vibrant waveform, providing a modern aesthetic.
Functional Adjustments
Functionality remains consistent with previous versions. Users can initiate or manage Gemini Live conversations without opening the full-screen interface. The compact overlay includes quick-access shortcuts for camera and file uploads, ensuring seamless interaction.
Availability
This visual refresh is currently being tested in the latest Gemini app beta. While it’s not yet widely available, users can access the update by installing the latest beta version and restarting their devices. As with all beta features, availability may vary, and not all users will receive the update simultaneously.
