YouTube’s advertising revenue saw a strong boost in the second quarter of 2025, reaching close to \$9.8 billion. This marks a 13% increase compared to the same period last year, beating expectations and highlighting YouTube’s growing influence in the streaming and digital advertising markets.
The platform now accounts for over 12% of total TV viewing time, reflecting how it continues to challenge traditional television for audience attention. Alphabet, YouTube’s parent company, also reported impressive overall revenue growth, fueled by gains across its various business segments including ads and subscriptions.
This rise in YouTube’s ad revenue is pushing competitors like HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, and Netflix to ramp up their advertising efforts. Netflix, for instance, aims to double its ad revenue this year as streaming services increasingly rely on ads to balance subscription income.
Looking ahead, YouTube’s continued growth shows its strong position in the digital advertising landscape and its ability to adapt to changing viewer habits and industry trends.
