On July 24, SpaceX’s Starlink network experienced a rare global outage affecting tens of thousands of users worldwide. Starting around 3:30 PM ET, the service went down across North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia, leaving many without internet access.
Users reported connection errors and sudden loss of service, with outage trackers recording a sharp spike in complaints. Starlink confirmed the disruption on its website and said its team was working to fix the problem.
The outage also hit military users in Ukraine, where Starlink plays a key role in communications and drone control. Both Ukrainian and Russian forces reportedly faced disruptions, showing how vital Starlink has become beyond just civilian use.
Service gradually returned within an hour, but SpaceX hasn’t revealed what caused the failure. This incident highlights the growing reliance on satellite internet and the challenges of maintaining a global network.
