Recent leaks from Xiaomi’s internal code and trusted insiders have confirmed that the company is preparing to release HyperOS 3, skipping the rumored intermediate update “HyperOS 2.6.” This new version will be built on Android 16 and is expected to arrive in the third quarter of 2025, likely coinciding with the launch of the Xiaomi 16 series smartphones.
HyperOS 3 promises a comprehensive overhaul with improvements in speed, design, and user experience. Leaked screenshots highlight a fresh “Liquid Glass” design aesthetic, featuring transparent, glossy icons, smoother animations, and new depth effects that enhance the overall visual appeal. Additionally, Xiaomi plans to introduce more advanced AI-powered features, aiming to make the user interface smarter and more adaptive to individual preferences.
The update will cover a broad range of devices from Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO, including flagship models like the Xiaomi 14 and 15 series, as well as popular mid-range devices such as the Redmi Note 14, Note 13, and POCO F7 and X7. For devices unable to run Android 16, Xiaomi is reportedly working on a version of HyperOS based on Android 15 to maintain support for older or less powerful models.
This development signals Xiaomi’s intention to unify its ecosystem under a more modern and efficient operating system, moving away from small incremental updates toward major, feature-rich releases. As the company approaches its typical August to September product launch window, more detailed information about HyperOS 3 is expected to emerge.
