TikTok has recovered from a short-lived outage that disrupted parts of the platform on Monday night. The issues began shortly after 11 PM ET, with users reporting problems such as error messages on the website, missing comments, and difficulty switching accounts.
While the app itself wasn’t fully down—some videos continued to load—features like comment sections and account management were glitchy or inaccessible. On the web, TikTok’s site and support pages displayed an error message with a reference code, prompting confusion among users, some of whom feared their accounts had been banned.
Reports flooded social platforms like Reddit, X (formerly Twitter), and Bluesky. Downdetector tracked over 44,000 incident reports at the peak of the disruption.
Interestingly, TikTok never publicly acknowledged the issue, and service provider status pages from companies like Akamai and Oracle showed no signs of broader outages. Whatever the cause, the issue was resolved relatively quickly, with normal service resuming around 12 AM ET.
