Galaxy S26 Ultra Leak Suggests Trade-off: Fewer Cameras, Enhanced Battery Performance

Despite the Galaxy S26 Ultra being more than a year away, rumors about the device are already circulating. Samsung is anticipated to implement significant changes in its next flagship model, some of which may spark debate among users. One such change could mirror this year’s controversial decision to eliminate Bluetooth functionality from the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s S Pen.

Recent speculation suggests that the Galaxy S26 Ultra may feature one fewer camera on its rear, potentially dropping from four sensors to three. This claim stems from a prototype currently under testing, which reportedly includes a 200-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 200-megapixel 4x optical zoom sensor.

Another rumor hints at the return of variable aperture for the primary sensor, a feature Samsung last included in the Galaxy S9 series, allowing users to switch between f/1.5 and f/2.4 apertures before it was phased out with the Galaxy S20 series. Interestingly, this prototype is said to include Bluetooth functionality for the S Pen, which would be a surprising reversal considering the recent removal of this feature, much to the disappointment of some fans of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, it’s unclear if this functionality will truly return so soon.

On the battery side, the prototype reportedly houses a stacked 5,500mAh battery. Many rumors suggest that the Galaxy S26 Ultra could finally surpass the 5,000mAh limit that its predecessors have maintained for years, possibly employing either stacked or silicon-carbon battery technology.

There seems to be growing consensus that Samsung might opt for the silicon-carbon approach, potentially offering a 6,000mAh battery for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Such a significant upgrade would likely be well-received and could help shift the focus away from the S Pen’s Bluetooth omission.
