Sony has confirmed that PlayStation Network (PSN) services have been restored after an outage that affected millions of PlayStation users worldwide, according to an X post on Sunday. The outage, which began on Saturday, impacted several aspects of the service, including gaming, social features, the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Direct, and account management.
“PSN has been restored. You should be able to access online features without any problems now. Sorry for the inconvenience!” official X handle of PlayStation wrote in a post.
According to reports, while some users were able to access certain games and services, others experienced a complete service outage. The disruption primarily affected all PSN features requiring an internet connection. This was one of the most significant tech outages in recent times, lasting over a day, though it was not as severe as the CrowdStrike outage, which had widespread effects for days.
While Sony has not disclosed the exact cause of the outage, the extended downtime was frustrating for PlayStation users worldwide. At one point, more than 70,000 reports of users being unable to access PSN were recorded on Downdetector.
